Paintings from The Met

European masterpieces, the American Wing and the Robert Lehman Collection, all shared as open-access images.

The Met introduced its Open Access program in February 2017. It releases images of the public-domain artworks in its collection, and basic data on every accessioned work, under Creative Commons Zero (CC0), so anyone may download, share and reuse them without asking. Read the museum’s open-access terms.

Room Paintings shows 941 of its paintings, with works by John Singer Sargent, Camille Corot, John Frederick Kensett and Paul Cézanne. 793 of them suit a room in our lists, and 15 are among the works we feature. The grid below leaves out 55 nudes and violent scenes, which you can find on each artist’s page.
